Hurricane Melissa Appeal

Dear fellow Jamaican and friends of Jamaica,

You will now be aware of the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.

Melissa is the strongest storm in Jamaica since records began and it has caused widespread humanitarian catastrophe:

➢ 300,000 individuals have been displaced or trapped,
➢ 8 major hospitals are damaged,
➢ 60% of major roads are not usable,
➢ 500,000 people are without electricity,
➢ Over 100,000 people are without clean water,
➢ Health care facilities and supplies are severely limited.

The Association of Jamaican UK Trust welcome the effort of the many Jamaican diaspora organisations who are responding to this humanitarian crisis and helping to rebuild our Island.

We need your support to respond to the crisis and rebuild Jamaica: Donate to The Association of Jamaican UK Trust’s Hurricane Melissa Appeal. Any amount you can afford in responding to the crisis and rebuilding our Island will be helpful.

Please use AOJUK’s Hurricane Melissa donation App: https://aojuk.net

If you can provide assistance in the form of tools, equipment and other supplies please review the Jamaican government ‘NEEDS LIST’.

The Jamaican High Commission has established an initial list of drop off points for equipment, tools and material.

AOJUK is exploring collaboration with several organisations to facilitate the collection and distribution of disaster relief items, and we will keep you informed as this progresses.

The Jamaican Government has launched an official website, “Hurricane Melissa Relief”supportjamaica.gov.jm. This site, along with AOJUK’s website, will keep you updated on the crisis and relief effort.
